“It’s Snowing, Again?!?!?! Using Cityworks to Track Sidewalk Clearing Violations”
Presented by Lee Halbrook (Senior Consultant, POWER) and Christopher Mumby (GIS Manager, City of Lansing) and George Yarzabek (Senior Project Manager, City of Lansing).

The City of Lansing receives its fair share of nasty winter weather. To ensure the safety of its citizens, the City passed a snow and ice ordinance that requires all property owners to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of the end of a winter event. The tracking of these potential violations, investigations, notifications and subsequent removal work order fees was originally managed with a custom ArcObjects application. This presentation will show how Lansing modernized this entire process with the use of Cityworks. Topics to be discussed will include: integrating Cityworks with external (BS&A) data sources to provide property owner data, creating database customizations to auto-update status codes, configuration of XML and event layer to support mobile field crews, and creation of custom reports to support the City assessor’s submission of property assessments.
