International Erosion Control Association Annual Conference and Expo

Raleigh, North Carolina

February 23-26, 2020

Our stormwater team will be attending the International Erosion Control Association Annual Conference in Raleigh, which brings together erosion and sediment control and stormwater professionals from over 25 countries to learn, debate and connect.

This year, four of our colleagues will be sharing their insights on industrial and construction stormwater compliance programs and audits and the importance of the triple bottom line in strategic project planning.

The Strategies and Challenges of Implementing an Industrial Stormwater Compliance Program for Multiple Facilities

Nathan Collier, CPESC, CESSWI / Hannah Olonovich, SCC Materials
Stormwater Management | Monday, February 24 | 11:30 AM–12:30 PM | 305B

Nathan and Hannah Olonovich with Southern Crushed Concrete Materials will provide an overview of the challenges and strategies associated with implementing an industrial stormwater compliance program across multiple facilities with an emphasis on establishing a strong culture of compliance. A discussion of permit requirements, compliance strategies, and lessons learned from their implementation will be paired with opportunity for group discussion amongst participants to promote the sharing of ideas.

The Value of Monthly Audits for Construction Stormwater Compliance

Kelsey Krueger, MS, CPESC, CISEC / Matt Klaser, CESSWI, CPESC
Stormwater Management | Tuesday, February 25 | 1:30 PM–2:00 PM | 306A

Kelsey and Matt will demonstrate the value of conducting monthly stormwater audits for active construction projects to ensure compliance in not just Texas, but many other urbanized areas as well. Performing a monthly audit involves talking to the site supervisor and any on-site representatives, evaluating the SWPPP and on-site permits, reviewing previously completed inspection reports and map updates, and performing a site walk through. Implementing a schedule that includes both audits and routine inspections makes permit compliance more achievable and allows for a more robust understanding of not only day-to-day operations but of programmatic shortcomings.

Reinforcing the Triple Bottom Line: People-Planet-Profits

Julie Morelli, P.G., REM
MS4 | Tuesday, February 25 | 2:10 PM–3:10 PM | 305B

Julie looks back on our history in the United States to present a future that avoids making the same mistakes. She will explore how to strategically select, design, and implement stormwater programs that consider the effects to people, the planet, and profit (or cost) – the triple bottom line.

We look forward to connecting with you at the conference. In the meantime, learn more about our stormwater services and follow @PWREngineers and @ieca2017 on Twitter for updates during the conference!
