Doswell Energy project wins ENR MidAtlantic award
HAILEY, Idaho (February 13, 2019) ‒ Engineering News-Record (ENR) has recognized the Doswell Energy Facility Expansion Project, which is owned by Doswell Limited Partnership, an affiliate of LS Power, with the 2018 MidAtlantic Energy/Industrial Best Projects Award of Merit. POWER Engineers Incorporated (POWER) provided detailed engineering and design services for the project and supported the project’s EPC contractor, Primoris Service Corporation subsidiary Primoris Energy Services, with its procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts.
“Being recognized by ENR for a job well done is a great achievement, which took collaboration and teamwork from all parties and is a great example of a well-coordinated integrated EPC project,” said Bob Fasciana, Senior Vice President of Primoris Power & Industrial Group.
As the engineer on the project, POWER was part of the team that designed and constructed a 340 MW gas-fired simple cycle generating facility in Ashland, Virginia. The project utilized a variety of repurposed equipment, including two General Electric 7FA combustion turbines, previously operating in Arcadia, Florida, to provide power to the PJM ISO territory. The project addressed many challenges including an expedited schedule, relocation and use of existing equipment, integration of shared utilities between the new expansion facility and adjacent existing Doswell generating station. The Doswell team managed the various project challenges and was successful in bringing the new facility online as scheduled in May 2018.
“This award is further recognition of the exceptional team performance of Doswell Limited Partnership, Primoris Energy Services, POWER Engineers and all the subcontractors and suppliers,” said Dennis Chianese, POWER’s senior project manager. “The Doswell Energy Facility Expansion Project is an extraordinary project and we are honored to have been an integral part of the project.”
