The Aviation Battalion Complex Dining Facility is a 26,500 square foot structure on approximately 4.5 acres designed to provide meals to 1,300 soldiers year-round. POWER A/E Consulting provided architectural, LEED AP, and comprehensive interior design services on the project. The facility re-designed the United States Army Corps of Engineers Centers of standardization design and resulted in a $72 million SATOC award. Building amenities include private dining areas, generous indoor seating accommodations, outdoor seating locations, after hour accommodations for “to-go” ordering, ample loading dock provisions with eased site access and dumpster locations located within the standard Anti-Terrorism Force Protection setbacks but designed to withstand all the requirements of UFC 4-010-01 DOD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards of Buildings. Incorporating extensive natural lighting components, lighting control systems, and low flow water fixtures certified the building as LEED Gold at no additional cost to the owner. The project earned the 2012 SAME Gold Level Design Excellence Award.
