Location: Bremerton Naval Shipyard CIA, Washington

The $19.5 million, design-build CVN Maintenance Complex project included demolition and replacement of an existing World War II-era shop building with a three-story, 61,000 square foot shop and administrative facility. POWER A/E Consulting provided architectural, LEED AP, and comprehensive interior design services on the project. Delivered on a fast-track schedule, the project’s design challenges included meeting Anti-Terrorism Force Protection requirements while creating a working interior environment for the users. The complex was within a very controlled space within a secondary controlled facility and contained both high bay manufacturing space and high tech office spaces. The design team prioritized creating a sustainable facility and spaces that promoted efficiency and productivity. Clerestory windows and a raised ceiling structure in the open offices bring daylight to the occupants and reduce the need for artificial light. The project won the 2007 SAME Silver Award for Design Excellence.
