Location: Eastern Europe
The interconnection requirements for wind development vary greatly from country to county and from one local grid operator to another. These requirements dictate in part the performance requirements and equipment selection for new wind park developments. When a leading European wind developer was considering new developments in Eastern Europe, POWER was able to assist by performing grid code compliance services for 41 potential sites. We verified the anticipated performance characteristics of each site complied with the performance requirements of the national and local grids and recommended design or equipment modifications when a park’s performance failed to meet these standards. The work involved data acquisition, data review, compliance gap analysis, high-level recommendations to bring the projects into compliance. The projects were in Romania, Kazakhstan, Russia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Serbia.
