Electric Utility Information Management – Integrating Virtualization and Cloud Computing
By Jeff Pack, CISSP, POWER Engineers
The future of information management in electric utilities requires the integration of virtualization and cloud computing to keep them competitive and cost-efficient when compared to similar organizations. Combine the advantages of virtualization and cloud computing with the advancing distributed generation model focusing on renewables, the increased focus on transactive energy and the consolidation of investor-owned electric utilities, and the result is easy to see – larger corporations with more demands for information, automation and scalability.
