HAILEY, Idaho (Oct. 9, 2018) — POWER Engineers’ Todd Haynes, a Project Manager and renewable energy expert based in Boise, will participate this week in the Sun Valley Institute’s speaker series event, “Driving Innovation for a Secure and Prosperous Idaho.”

Two free events will be held: the first at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10 at the Hyatt Place in downtown Boise, and the second at noon on Thursday, October 11 at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies in Idaho Falls.

The events will focus on the potential for microgrids, storage, and local renewable energy resources to increase security and advance in-state economics. The panel will discuss how renewable energy generation from solar, wind, geothermal and biomass can promote Idaho’s energy independence and leadership

Each event will feature panelist presentations followed by moderated dialogue on climate change and energy technologies before closing with an audience Q&A. A reception will follow both events and pre-registration is requested. Attendees in Idaho Falls can also supplement the event with free tours of the Center for Advanced Energy Studies or the Idaho Natural Laboratory’s research facilities.

In addition to POWER Engineers, panelists include a renewable energy project manager from the Idaho National Laboratory, resource planning and distribution planning representatives from Idaho Power, and the founding director of the Risky Business Project, a national initiative to assess and publicize the economic risks associated with climate change.
