< Back to projects

Client: Tetra Tech / U.S. Agency for International Development
Location: Afghanistan

Subcontracted by Tetra Tech under a USAID contract, POWER conducted a feasibility study for a natural gas-fired generation plant to provide 200 MW of electricity adjacent to the Sheberghan gas fields located in the Jawzjan Province. We provided an analysis of simple and combined cycle gas turbine power plants and current reciprocating engine technologies and provided a report detailing each option’s operating costs along with maintenance considerations. The report included a conceptual site plan for the most cost effective plant configuration for each the gas turbine the reciprocating technologies. The feasibility report included heat and mass balances calculations, operating costs, major equipment list, single lines along with estimated costs to construct.
